A high percent of residents in these communities live in slums with inadequate social infrastructure. It is highly dominated by low income earners and boast of a very large population that comes with a myriad of social challenges. Most houses come with single rooms accommodating a whole family and sometimes there are more than ten rooms in a building with either one or two toilets. As with other slum communities, neighbourhoods in these communities are usually over crowded. Over the years and presently the government is upgrading infrastructure such as fixing drainages, building roads, upgrading schools, installation of Street lights on major roads etc.

These initiatives are to elevate the living standard of the residents. With all these government intervention, much still have to be done in terms of infrastructure and government may not be able to do this alone. There are communities whose developmental budget requires millions of dollars and these communities look forward to sustainable partnership that will help develop their communities.
